Dear NBSD Families,

Oregon Health Authority and Oregon Department of Education announced last week that the mandate would be lifted March 19, 2022, but at a press conference today, Governor Kate Brown announced that the statewide indoor mask mandate, including K-12 schools, will now be lifted at 11:59 pm on March 11, 2022.  Until then, our schools will continue to practice the current health safety protocols.

We will be getting some updates to our current Ready Schools Safe Learners (RSSL) protocols later this week along with clarification on any changes coming our way.  Once we are able to review that information, we will begin updating you about the changes and how that will impact our district.  We hope to have some good news coming our way as COVID cases and hospitalizations are dropping at a rate faster than expected.

We understand that for some the changes will be challenging and possibly even concerning. Our goal is to continue making decisions guided by health officials, while ensuring vulnerable members of our community have the tools they need to increase their level of protection.  We will continue to support students and staff who may still choose to wear a mask and will continue to demonstrate a culture of kindness towards personal choice.
