NBSD INDIAN EDUCATION UPDATE

Jason Moore

APR 29, 2022

We are reaching out to seek input to help us identify how we can better serve our Native American students and families.

The 2021-2022 school year is a year of transition. As we move forward in this school year toward a new normal, we are taking an opportunity to review how we provide services for Indian Education. During this review we are seeking input as to what families see as suggestions, requests, and/or needs so we can best create a framework with multiple options for students at elementary, middle and high levels with various needs.

Please take time to consider ideas that may have occurred in the past, you have heard or seen and/or things you would hope to have offered here within our program. We would also be excited to have you join us as a collective group to plan and prepare for next steps, while also sharing a new web page to celebrate our local Tribes, Native American history and culture, as well as updated information for our students, families, staff and community.

Please join us for a brief in-person meeting at the Hall of Champions on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at 4:15 pm.

Another opportunity to hear more about our Indian Education federal grant process and planning, allocation, objectives and goals will be held as a public hearing during the May board meeting next Thursday, May 5, 2022 at the North Bend City Council chambers, starting at 6 pm.

Additionally, you can provide input through an online survey (NBSD Indian Education Survey Spring 2022). Within the online survey there is a place to add your name and contact information if you are interested in receiving more information or want to participate within our collaborative group.

For more information please contact Tiffany Rush at trush@nbend.k12.or.us or 541.756.2521.

We appreciate your time in providing feedback.
